Jane Webb is a Hertford shire based artist and curator that graduated in Glass & Fine Art, post graduate, at Central St Martins in 2006 . Since then she has exhibited at the V&A Museum, The London Museum and also has been short listed for the ‘Inspire by Awards' & ‘Pride in the House' and the ‘Future Design Awards' and won 1st prize award for The Moich Abraham's Prize for most Innovative work. More recently Jane's 'Cybernetic' art was shown in Moscow.

Including a temporary, public art installation in Leicester square, 'Street Pianos', which was broadcast on TV and radio and featured in publications, internationally. Jane was commissioned by Sci- Fi Film festival and a guest artist on the premier night and also commissioned for Waltham Forest Council for 'Light Up' a one night event of illuminating Lanthorne Park for the Olympiad and commissioned to work with The Museum of London on a one night event called Electro-Late.

Jane's latest success is Illumini, where she is the founder and curator, which started in 2008. A not for profit organisation, which creates spectacular free events and promotes artist working with light as a media. The launch of Illumini Events in 2008 attracted 7,145 Visitors, since then over 25,000 people have enjoyed the Illumini Experience. While attracting large media coverage and great reviews. More information about Illumini Events can be found at www.illuminievent.co.uk

Jane's earlier art work, of illuminating mirrors, that act as mirrors by day and transform at night to powerful light features, these illuminated mirrors and contemporary glass wall panels are still consistent in her private commissions.

Jane's exhibiting works now consist of mixed media, futuristic, illuminating sculptures and installations, where recycled computer and electronic components are assimilated. The simplicity and complexity of circuit board patterns are a strong influence along with imagery of robotics and technological advancements in the area of prosthetics and cybernetics, which give humans a better way of life. Jane's interests also lie in the ways in which technology is abused by society today.

We use tools such as computers and internet which extends our visual memory and other powers beyond what our human bodies are capable of. Initially technology was created as a time saving device and memory aids. However, we now appear to be co-dependent on them, Are we letting technology act like a virus destroying our humanity and turning us into cybernetic humanoids!

We live in a throw away society, replacing our electronic gadgets, not because they are broken, but because they are not the most up to date technology. Commercial culture bombards us with messages telling us we need it. Mobile phones becoming a status symbol, the need to keep up with the Jones's no matter at what expense. I use recycled electronic components which I finds in the streets of London that have been thrown away with the rubbish just adding to land filling

Our perceptions are that technology is speed, efficiency and enhancement. The mobile phone is like a portable life support machine, the average person already looking like a cyborg with a blue tooth attachment to their ear, a digital watch strapped to their wrist and plugged into an Ipod. It does make you wonder how close we are to becoming cyborg's already!

Jane's art is developed in a fun and playful way, brining out the child in us all. Past works have included lighting, sound, and kinetics where the viewer can engage with the works not just visually but by interaction, the element of surprise if buttons are pressed. Future works are to explore more interaction with the viewer, by using electronics from recycled items, giving the once dead or unwanted, life once again.

Even though my art is perceived as science fiction, it is however heavily influenced by everyday science fact!

Jane's work can be hired for any occasion or event and will add a very unique setting for your guests
